Program Directors Bios

Dorsa Ghoreishi joined the department of Mathematics and Statistics at Saint Louis University in August 2020 as a post-doctoral fellow, and after three years, she started her new position as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Ghoreishi was born and raised in Iran and moved to the United States to start her doctorate program. She received her Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2020. Her research is in the field of Frame Theory with a focus on Phase Retrieval. During her time at SLU, she initiated the re-establishment of the Association for Women in Mathematics Student Chapter and received an NSF grant to support her research. She is a Missouri Section NExT fellow and a member of the national organizations of AMS and AWM. In her free time, she enjoys reading books, rock climbing, running, biking and spending time with her cat.

Elodie Pozzi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Her research interests are in real and complex analysis, function and operator theory with applications to approximation theory. She received her PhD at the University of Lyon I in France and had postdoctoral at places like the research center INRIA and the University of Lille, France. She has experience in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. She co-organized several AMS conferences, and is regularly an invited speaker to national and international conferences. She is a member of the AWM and AMS organizations. During her free time, she likes crafting, crocheting and weightlifting.

Özlem Uğurlu is an Assistant Professor at Saint Louis University, Missouri. Her research interests lie in combinatorics, algebraic geometry, and representation theory. Dr. Uğurlu was born in Adana, Türkiye. After receiving her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Mathematics from Dokuz Eylül University, Izmir, Türkiye, she moved to New Orleans to pursue doctorate study at Tulane University. Dr. Uğurlu received her Ph.D. in mathematics under the supervision of Dr. Mahir Bilen Can in 2018. Before joining the Math department at Saint Louis University, she was at Palm Beach State College, Florida. She is a Project NExT (Cohort 23′) and Missouri Section NExT fellow and a member of the national organizations of MAA, AMS, and AWM. She enjoy spending her spare time with her hyper dog Mia, cooking – especially trying new recipes.
